Barley Treatment for Blue-Green Algae

Blooms of Blue-Green Algae can pollute lakes, These blooms can be toxic and frequently lead to the closure of recreational waters when spotted.

I had been reading old books in Peterborough library, and had come across an old treatment for such an eventuality, so when lakes near Peterborough became polluted I got the council to use a few bales of Barley hay to clean up the lakes at Ferry Meadows. Whenever I read that lakes are polluted I am now able to contact local politicians, in order to clean up the problem. Several chemicals are able to clean up the blooms, but can themselves cause problems, I would guess that they are more expensive than barley hay as well.
